So last weekend, I attended such a brilliant workshop that I wanted to share it with you. After not writing or sharing anything in such a long time I think posting this is the best way to get back into the swing of things.
SO – this workshop taught me a new skill that I’ve been desperate to learn for such a long time, and that skill is beautiful handwritten calligraphy.
The workshop was run by the lovely Lauren of Oh Wonder Calligraphy, held at The Ritzy in Brixton. The session was for beginners but it was informative enough for us newbies of calligraphy and also such great fun.

We started with the basics, understanding the nibs and how to prep your pen, right through to practicing the alphabet. She even provided us with our first set of tools that we got to take away with us.
I got a little ahead of myself and began practicing words during the workshop – harder then you think because I was so focused on copying the letter style that I completely forgot how to spell on numerous occasions!! Oops!
However, as much as I need to practise, this new skill has already come in handy as I’ve been writing labels for prints for my lovely brides, here’s one I did this week 🙂

The course is great for anyone who fancies learning a new creative skill, perhaps you’re a wedding supplier like me or you’re getting married and want to write beautiful calligraphy name places for your guests.
I know Lauren plans to do another workshop soon, this time with bottomless brunch and cocktails… Did you say cocktails? AND brunch?? Where can I get my ticket?! To be the first to hear about her next workshop dates you should visit her website to keep an eye out for her Autumn dates. She also runs 1to1 sessions so if you simply cannot wait then definitely drop her an email:
For now, I’ll leave you with some images from the workshop that I took for her.
Enjoy! Philippa xxx
